t i e m a n n was born into a family of artists and musicians before practicing photography in Norfolk Virginia. Throughout his life he was exposed to fine arts. In the tradition of his family, he eventually went to the University of Kentucky where he pursued a degree in voice performance. Everything seemed to be going well, but there was something missing. That was until t i e m a n n began experimenting as a photographer in Norfolk, Virginia. Photography provided t i e m a n n with a medium that allowed him to express ideas that he could not with in music. Having the discipline that was required to master elements in music went hand in hand with the discipline of learning and mastering skills in photography. Before he knew it, his skills were being recognized and there was a demand for his talents and vision.
Adding to t i e m a n n ' s abilities are the fact that he also had developed a deep knowledge base in information technology. This was the perfect compliment to the digital revolution that has taken place in the photo imaging industry. As a result, t i e m a n n has a superior understanding of how his technologies work resulting an a mastery over his tools.
Despite being a Norfolk Virginia photographer, t i e m a n n ' s influences are still the sounds of poetry and music. t i e m a n n has also visited many less traveled parts of the world in his efforts to explore other cultures and ideas.
